Stars and Stripes for a While
Well, I guess it’s just stars, really. But there are some fun stripes on the box.
In my unending quest to bring you the latest in nutritious and healthful cereals, this one’s a no-brainer.
Cap’n Crunch’s Red, White & Blue Crunch!
Which, if you take out the descriptors, is just “Cap’n Crunch’s Crunch”! A bit less festive, but still gets the point across.
It’s colorful, it’s patriotic, it’s got a few nutrients infused into it and some “fun star shapes,” for crying out loud…. and a hint of some kind of a berry flavor. What more do you need?
Actually, it’s one of my new favorites. It’s sweet, stays pretty crunchy in milk, but does not, as my wife will attest, cut the roof of your mouth to ribbons, unlike some of the rest of the Capn’s offerings. I would submit to you that my beloved Peanut Butter Crunch does not do that; she would disagree, but she isn’t writing this review, is she? 😉
So, since it seems to be holiday-themed and since I like it, it’s surely doomed to go away quickly or be seasonal at best.
But, because I like you, too, I’ll let you in on a little secret – if you live anywhere near the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet store in Canton, Ohio, or are willing to drive, fly, or swim there, they had a ton of ’em in the cereal aisle when I was there a few weeks ago. And they still might, because they don’t expire until late December, which is an eternity for a cereal at Ollie’s.
And at $2.49 for the Family Size, ya really can’t beat it.
So, rush out and buy yours today!
Oh, and I think the milk turns a pleasing off-green, IIRC.
Red and blue cereal makes green milk? How does that work?!? 😳
Great question! I’m going on memory – it’s been a few days since I had it. You’d think it’d turn purple, right? I am pretty sure it was green. I’ll reply here with confirmation after my next bowlful! 😉
I was wrong. It’s purplish-pink. Makes more sense! I must’ve been mistaking it for some other healthy cereal I had recently. 🙂
