Most of these baseball-themed strips with Jimmy are at least somewhat based on my own brief Little League experiences.  I played in the outfield, where they stuck all of the kids who had no prayer of catching the ball, because most of the kids also had no prayer of hitting it that far!  When they did, it was an adventure.  I almost always missed it, and it would go bouncing past me to the outfield fence, where I’d run it down, grab it, and, in a panic-stricken frenzy, try to heave it somewhere in the general vicinity of the infield.  Ah, memories…
