Brr!
So, if you’re anything like me – first off, my deepest sympathies. Second off, you’ve probably been waiting with me for years for them to make a cereal based on a cold, slushy drink!
Because, honestly, there’s precious little left that they haven’t made into a breakfast cereal at this point.
Well…. our wait is over!
Introducing ICEE – the cereal designed to make your mouth cold!
Maybe it’s just a product of my acceptable cereal standards being constantly lowered over the years, but believe it or not, I actually liked this cereal.
It’s got pretty much everything you’d want in a cereal:
- Pretty pastel colors
- A decent fruity taste
- Remains decently crispy in milk
- Turns your milk pink
- It really does make your mouth colder than most other cereals do, at least when it’s in milk. I haven’t tried it dry yet and am too lazy to walk over to the kitchen and do that now. I don’t know how they do it and am pretty sure I don’t want to know.
- It’s multigrain (corn, wheat, oats), not just another lousy corn cereal, which General Mills turned my beloved formerly oat-based, formerly delicious Monster cereals into, and which I am not still bitter over to this day and would not be the first change I would make if I ever became president.
I suppose it’s possible that you could actually use an ICEE drink in this cereal in lieu of milk, to get the full effect, but…. well, if you do, please let me know how that turned out!
I actually genuinely recommend it. My missus disagreed (she conceded it does make your mouth colder, but mentioned something about a bad aftertaste, bad texture, and something else I can’t remember), so your mileage may vary. 🙂
So grab a straw spoon and dig right in! Like pretty much every other new cereal on the market, it probably ain’t gonna last long!
